Lawn Watering Restrictions

During this busy construction season, BMU has need to restrict the use of water for irrigating lawns in Brookings.

Beginning May 1st, 2023, water used for irrigating lawns will be limited to every:

• MONDAY and FRIDAY for property with an EVEN address number
• TUESDAY and SATURDAY for property with an ODD address number

Irrigation of lawns on any other day will be prohibited unless specifically permitted by BMU. Compliance with these water restrictions is necessary to assure the health and safety of the community. Unrestricted use is allowed for other activities such as watering flowers or residential vegetable gardens.

Residents and property owners are asked to comply with the watering restrictions and those in noncompliance will be subject to a fine of $200.00 per day.

Exception Permits may be available for the establishment of new lawns. Permits may be obtained at Brookings Municipal Utilities, 525 Western Ave., for $50.00.

Please note that Edgebrook Golf Course and Fishback Soccer Complex are irrigated via well water and as such are not subject to these restrictions.
